My Latest Signing Time Academy News

I had two fabulous things occur last week, both on the same day.

My Signing Time Academy Area Director was in the neighborhood with her family for vacation, and I had the delightful privilege of meeting her sweet family. They took an Amish Buggy tour/ride, then we caught up with each other afterwards. We met at the Kitchen Kettle Village at Intercourse, Pennsylvania for a bit of strolling through the shops, then lunch.

Later that evening, I was notified that I had been selected with several other Signing Time Academy Instructors for Instructor of the Month. What an honor and a great way to end the day! Read more about the benefits of Signing and about some of the instructors for Signing Time Academy here:

Congratulations fellow instructors!
If you're not familiar with Signing Time, you can check out videos at most libraries. If you like what you see, you can order their products online Signing Time or you can find a Signing Time Instructor by using the search form on the website at Signing Time Academy

Signing Time began when singer/songwriter Rachel Coleman put together home videos for her family to learn ASL so they could learn to sign with Rachel's deaf daughter Leah. Rachel and her sister Emily created and produced several videos which left family and friends wanting more. From that humble beginning, Signing Time now has instructors all over the world teaching children and families Sign Language. Signing Time also has videos with spoken and written Spanish, with the ASL signs. Day care centers and schools around the world are now incorporating Sign Language into their curriculum.

There are many benefits to learning how to sign, not the least is communication with babies, children with autism, as well as deaf and hard of hearing children and adults in our communities. ASL is the 4th most widely used language in the United States. It is a credited, recognized language that is pictorial beautiful and expressive.
