Raised on the Southern Oregon Coast, now retired on the Southern Oregon Coast. I was a hard of hearing child who grew up to be a deafened adult. I share and write about deafness, hearing loss and other things I find interesting. I am a 50 something year old woman who could be anyone's mother, grandmother or friend. I've traveled the U.S., and I've lived in Europe. I'm currently residing near the beach with Fabulous Husband and 11 year old son. ~ Joyce Edmiston

This is a reminder that the internet based Telecommunications Relay Services, particularly the VRS, you all know at this point used an idea, a concept, a prototype known as "ocdacrelay" that was stolen from the Orange County Deaf Advocacy Center's director Richard Roehm in 2003. You can learn more about this in great detail at http://www.tinyurl.com/ocdacrelay and before you decide to give your accolades to the VRS industry, you need to remember that the backbone of it was an idea that was stolen from a deaf person.
